1949     First experiments coloring anodized aluminum were done in the Dyes Division of Sandoz Ltd. Later this was transferred to Durand & Huguenin, who became the market leader.

1969     Sandoz reacquired Durand & Huguenin and the worldwide aluminum dye business.

1995     Clariant was formed from the chemicals group of Sandoz Ltd.

1997     Clariant acquired the specialty chemicals business of Hoechst [Germany].

2008     Clariant established a strategic alliance with Reliant for The Americas.
